The Cult of Cute Catastrophes
Halloween Weekends at the Artcade
👻🍬🧪
This cult is friendly to kids, families, and curious grown-ups alike.
This October, the Artcade unveils its 2025 Halloween art expansion, The Cult of Cute Catastrophes, a mad mash-up of unscientific art experiments and creative aberrations.
Step inside the world premiere of our newest interactive art and environmental installations — a living playground where curiosity runs the experiment. Reflective algae now creep across the walls of our Telephorgan Grotto, casting ghostly light over the landscape. Mutant Stuffies burst with joy as you cross into the Tinkerer’s Lab, a pulsating chamber trimmed with cyber cherubs.
Next door, a repurposed church organ waits for its ecstatic congregants, ready to turn divine inspiration into sonic mayhem. Follow the glowing threads to pass through the arach-noids’ lair and behold the uncanny creations born from our Weird Barbie Workshops — a glittering gallery of chaos, craft, and catharsis.
This season, the Artcade’s Cult of Cute Catastrophes grows stranger, softer, and more alive. But don’t just take our word for it, see what the press is saying:
Artists contributing to this expansion include Anastasia, Scott Amos, Shae Butter, Melanie Golder, Ruby Hopkins, Sarah Thompson Jack, Vixie Konijntje, Aden Lovely, Jewels Lewis, Maddie, Maegie, Leah Meierhofer, Amanda Merry, David Parfit, Sarah Thiessen, Heather Troy, Jules Uno, and Marion Young.
October 22 – November 2 · 2–10 pm. Wednesdays through Sundays. $15 at the Artcade - 706 Fort Street (btwn Douglas & Blanshard). All ages welcome! (No jump scares here, your inner monster will find musical interactions, glowing installations, and a few new critter friends.)
Inside the Cult, you’ll encounter:
🐛 Creepy Crawlers from the Beep Dimension,
🔫 Space Lasers of Boop, and
✨ New Musical Mutations!
Costumes are welcome (lab coats, cult robes, or your cutest catastrophe). Candy may or may not be dispensed by suspiciously adorable machines… 🍬👀
Join the experiment - where catastrophe is cute, chaos is playful, and the beep/boop dimensions collide.
