The ALIEN LAB Expansion!

February, 2026 — This spring, Monkey C Interactive’s Artcade is celebrating its second anniversary with the opening of the Alien Lab, a 1,000-square-foot expansion at its location in downtown Victoria.

Alien Lab is about pushing curiosity even further. It’s a space for experimentation, wonder, and joyful noise. We’re so excited to share it with you… the alien lifeforms have been incubating for a while now, we’re as curious as you are to see what they’ve grown into.

We will announce the opening of the Alien Lab here and on our social media. Stay tuned!

Over the past two years, the Artcade experience has grown through a series of smaller expansions like Adoragore in 2024 and the Cult of Cute Catastrophes in 2025—each expansion introduced new rooms, new environments and new interactive musical machines. Alien Lab will mark the Artcade’s most ambitious expansion to date transforming an additional 1,000sq ft at 706 Fort Street into a winding, exploratory environment filled with strange and playful installations designed to be touched, explored, and discovered.

The Alien Lab expansion is being developed with the participation of Creative BC and the British Columbia Arts Council’s Interactive Fund. This project is proudly supported by the City of Victoria’s Storefront Activation Program and by the generosity of our guests. Thank you so very much for all your support over the past two years - we are so grateful and proud to be recipients of this years Creative BC and OUR DWTN funding.

A partnership between Creative BC and the BC Arts Council, the Interactive Fund supports the creation of high quality, original interactive digital media projects that support diversity in artistic expression, demonstrate clear connections between art and technology, and provide opportunities for access, dissemination, and engagement with audiences and within the B.C. arts and culture sector.

The City of Victoria’s Victoria Storefront Activation Program is funded through OUR DWTN and Create Victoria to increase access to spaces for arts and culture and provide opportunities for artists to showcase their talents and engage with communities. This initiative supports the City’s strategic priorities of downtown revitalization, cultural vibrancy and economic resilience by transforming underutilized spaces into inclusive, creative hubs.

To celebrate the expansion, the Artcade is offering free Thursdays for Seniors and Post-Secondary Students for a limited time (read more about that here).
